The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the domestic intelligence and security service of the United States and its principal federal law enforcement agency, has deployed ActiveDocs to automate the creation of Search Warrants nation-wide.

The automated generation of Search Warrants replaces a largely manual process and delivers crucial time saving advantages. ActiveDocs enables the bureau to respond quicker to the needs of their investigations by getting Search Warrants through due process faster.

Catherine Larsen, ActiveDocs Senior Vice President of Sales for North America, said: "The FBI ran an extended pilot project to ensure that ActiveDocs definitively meets all the requirements posed by the creation of Search Warrants. These included the need for highly functional questionnaires with sophisticated case-related logic, management of large library of reusable content, and extremely high requirements for system security. Now, after the successful pilot, the new automated way of generating Search Warrants is being rolled out nation-wide as part of the FACT project."

Creating Search Warrants with ActiveDocs enables FBI agents and other investigators to select the parameters that are required for their case and enter relevant details. To ensure that the rigorous legal requirements for any given Search Warrant are met and that the extent of the Search Warrant meets the scope of the investigation, the users are guided through a questionnaire with multi-level decision making trees that the FBI implemented in ActiveDocs.

Glenn Ricketts, ActiveDocs CEO, noted: "The automated creation of Search Warrants at the FBI fits right into the ActiveDocs track record at deployments in some of the world’s largest companies and government bodies. The application has proven itself to meet the strictest requirements for security, performance, and functionality. ActiveDocs helps thousands of FBI’s agents produce Search Warrants that are critical for the success of the FBI’s investigations – this is something that would be hard to find any parallels for in the industry."
