ActiveDocs, the confident choice of large companies for document automation success, announced today that HarbourVest is implementing ActiveDocs to automate generation of financial statements. HarbourVest is one of the largest private equity investment managers globally. Their goal was to improve financial statement creation, ensuring accuracy and compliance while reducing the associated effort.
Catherine Larsen, ActiveDocs SVP Sales for North America, said: “HarbourVest came to us with a long list of very specific requirements for document-related functionality and system integration. Their team quickly decided to proceed with a Proof-of-Concept project – this enabled them to test out and verify the required functionality hands-on. Because financial statements of funds are subject to regulatory and public scrutiny, the team worked on several templates as part of the project. This ensured that HarbourVest’s experts were happy with every aspect of the output and the usability of the proposed solution. The Proof-of-Concept project helped fine-tune the overall architecture of the solution, and enabled HarbourVest to make an informed and confident choice when selecting ActiveDocs software.”
HarbourVest require all financial statement generation to be tightly connected with a number of their existing systems. These include a single-sign-on product, e-signature, and a document management system, along with more specialised financial software like Great Planes and particularly eFront, which is often used by private equity firms.
By trying the software in their own environment, HarbourVest confirmed that the range of ActiveDocs data connection capabilities – including the universal OData connector – will be able to populate and update financial statements with the required data.
ActiveDocs’ sophisticated calculation and data verification capabilities ensure the figures presented in HarbourVest’s financial statements are always consistent with the data in their financial systems of record, and within the financial statement itself.
HarbourVest are also taking advantage of the ActiveDocs Snippet™ functionality. Users can modify wording within statements, while the financial figures are updated automatically if a change occurs. Document creators also have the option to reuse the wording from previously created statements, making the process accurate and more efficient.
Having evaluated ActiveDocs document automation software, HarbourVest could see first-hand the efficiencies and risk reduction it delivers, and were able to start the full-scale implementation immediately following the completion of the Proof-of-Concept project.
